The Ford Motor Company, along with rival General Motors, has been in a time of severe testing due to concerns about product quality and relevancy, profits, and long-term profitability. The result is that Ford is planning on closing a variety of plants and leaves, not less than 30,000 employees, a historic mining may be that only the tip of the iceberg. Ford is completed or the company will be able to regain strength and success to remain competitive in the coming years?
Fordcertainly made his plays and for good reason. The gains in the North American market with the losses are not actually in the multi-billion-dollar range. Despite the red ink all is not lost for the "Blue Oval", as the company remains very profitable overseas. In addition, the three U.S. divisions offer much, if people adopt some serious changes. Here are my suggestions for change:
Ford - The largest department in the automotive manufacturer is the one that bears his name.Ford's strength lies in its line of pickup trucks and SUVs. Select car models including the Mustang and Fusion are also strong sellers. Ford may be weak, with its small car line, the focus, and be found by the models including the Crown Victoria. Better for Ford to eliminate its small car lines all over and import cars from Mexico or overseas. In addition, should the company on the redevelopment of the Crown Victoria and the introduction of an all-new compact RangerPick up truck. Finally, Ford is always out of the minivan business as crossover vehicles like the all new Edge, this category will be replaced. The latter is also retreating as the category is saturated and the cost of developing a successful new minivan can be derived in order to concentrate on the support of other product lines.
Mercury - Many have predicted that Ford's Mercury division would scrap altogether. But among the many announced recently for managerial decisionsshow that Mercury remains. Along with Lincoln, the two brands are weak and in need of great benefit. Mercury cars for decades is nothing but another Ford models therefore revised its brand identity has been diluted. It is time for Ford to Mercury to help come up with a clearer "personality" and a number of vehicles that inspiring, not boring. A good start would be to develop a car, all of Mercury's own, like a retro Cougar coupe.
Lincoln - ItWhat a day, Lincoln and Cadillac were fighting for the priority sales lead in the American luxury-car category. Lincoln long ago ceded the fight for the Cadillac, a GM division with new and exciting products. Currently Cadillac outsells Lincoln by more than 2-1 and struggling with the likes of Lexus, BMW and Mercedes. For Lincoln, a new Town Car is required and a decision must be taken, how much of the allocation should be on trucks and SUVs leave to determinethe mark. Currently, Lincoln has more truck models than cars. The revival of a historical model of how the Continental could be a wise choice and put a little money in the LS is different. Curious to do is to change the name of the newest model, the Zephyr, the MKZ after only one model of the year.
Ford is struggling and it is particularly evident in two divisions, Mercury and Lincoln. The Mazda Connection, which has led several models including the Escape and Fusion,was a success. Tapping his Volvo Association, to be wise with larger vehicles and technical assistance, and Ford should produce more closely with the Jaguar division to other vehicle lines. The current LS, derived from the Jaguar S-Type "is an example of an earlier collaboration, which has not been fully exploited.
All hope is not lost for the Ford, but the company's image was tarnished. The seed of greatness is, but the company must act quickly toRegain consumer confidence and stop the ever deepening erosion of revenues based on foreign production.
